Lori A. Ferguson is an attorney in Vancouver, WA practicing in the areas of guardianship, probate, family law and estate planning. She has practiced law in the State of Washington since 1999. Lori is experienced in helping clients who are caring for a disabled family member. She assists clients in establishing guardianships for special needs children who are turning 18 and need a guardian to continue to assist them with personal care, health care and financial management. She also assists clients who need a guardianship to help care for an elderly family member who is incapacitated.

Clients who have family members with special needs also require special assistance with their estate planning. Lori works with clients to ensure that an inheritance received by a disabled family member does not disrupt their public benefits. In these situations, it is important for families to consider a special needs trust as part of their estate plan.

With all estate planning clients, Lori considers the individual needs of each client and reviews all options with her clients to develop a plan to best meet the client’s goals and objectives, whether through a Community Property Agreement for a married couple, a Living Trust or a Will.

Lori also practices in the area of family law. In this area, Lori works with clients to try to find pragmatic and cost-effective solutions to their cases. When litigation is required, Lori is experienced in handling family law motions and trials.

Lori has been a presenter in classes and seminars on guardianships, special needs trusts and the child relocation act. She is a member of the Elder Law Section of the Washington State Bar Association and the Clark County Bar Association Family Law Section. She volunteers as an attorney at the Luepke Senior Center Legal Clinic and has served as a pro tem Court Commissioner for family law hearings in the Superior Court of Washington for Clark County.
